The goal of the Public Health Act
is to protect the general population's health and create conditions conducive to maintaining and enhancing the population's health and well-being. The Public Health Act is the source of my authority as Director of Public Health for the Montréal region. Along with other acts and regulations, it establishes the framework within which I work with all other public authorities.
As Director of Public Health, I am empowered under various provisions of the Act to carry out public health surveillance and to take action when the health of the population is threatened.
